KINCAID | Mendes Vianna Advogados
At KINCAID Mendes Vianna Advogados, we believe that ELSA's STEP can be such a rich experience, not only for the trainee who stays with us during the programme but for the entire law firm, that can learn from a new culture.
We are one of the most traditional and longstanding law firms in Brazil, with 87 years in the market. With a range of international clients, we are experts in civil, commercial, corporate and tax law and, notoriously, in maritime law, insurance, and reinsurance and international law, with an emphasis on litigation and arbitration.
Our core values are based on integrity, transparency, ethics, respect and diversity. The programme only reinforces our efforts to guarantee diversity. No matter the nationality, we are always happy to welcome students and share our knowledge with them.
We highly recommend young lawyers to participate in STEP. We look forward to being part of the programme again in 2020!
Jerusalem Institute of Justice
STEP Traineeship Provider since 2017
"The Jerusalem Institute of Justice (JIJ) International Law and Public Diplomacy Department strives to uphold human rights in the Middle East. The universality of human rights is a standard that requires constant vigilance and protection, not just in the Middle East, but also in the global arena.
JIJ utilizes legal and research tools in order to advocate in international legal forums across the globe. Through research, drafting and presenting complaints, evidence and testimonies to the International Criminal Court and Governmental bodies, we target perpetrators of human rights violations that have so far enjoyed impunity. Dear STEP Trainees, we invite you to come and be part of an extraordinary organization pursuing justice in one of the most challenging places in the world.
JIJ’s research and advocacy team and interns dedicate thousands of hours a year to create awareness and policy changes with the goal of positively impacting the lives of millions living in oppression. An average of 40 international students passes through JIJ’s doors each year.
Many of these talented interns come through ELSA's STEP initiative. These interns offer great value, providing fresh perspectives and passion while gaining practical experience in a cutting-edge intersection of social, political and cultural ideas. These all add to the interns' personal growth and advancement of their career prospects. Additionally, participants gain an invaluable network, exposure to a foreign country with ongoing international concerns, and professional skills directly related to future work in international legal advocacy."

"ELSA's STEP programme is a chance not only for students to get legal experience and find a future career path, but it is also a fruitful experiment of cultural adaptation for lawyers and a way of widening our professional networks.
We at Holubová Advokáti really appreciate diversity. Among our STEP Trainees were both EU law students (inter alia Finnish, German, Austrian, British, and Polish) and non-EU students (inter alia Ukrainian, and Swiss).
Our law firm sees STEP as an opportunity for young lawyers to challenge their legal skills, ability to work in an international environment and capacity to rapidly learn in order to deliver legal advice. These kind of programmes are useful and provide both parties with mutual “consideration” as the STEP Trainees gain highly valuable work experience, and law firms as STEP Traineeship Providers will have at their disposal young minds full of energy and creative potential which definitely enriches the corporate environment!
We highly recommend young lawyers to participate in STEP and we encourage more law firms to get on board as STEP Traineeships Providers. All in all, it is great fun!"
